Gold Coast - My First Glimpse

First pictures taken whilst visiting inlaws in Tugun, a town on the Gold Coast, not far from Coolangatta.triptothecoast 002

Gold Coast - A beautiful Summer's Day. You can see the coastline stretching across centre right, Surfer's paradise is just about visible.

triptothecoast 003The sand is so much cleaner than most of the beaches I've been to in the UK. The sea is varying shades of a tropical blue, the plant-life lush and green and varied...beautiful. I hope to visit the Great Barrier Reef and/or the Whit-Sundays one year and see some underwater creatures...

My inlaws' place is 5minutes walk from this area :-) you just walk straight out on to the beach, very peaceful and not as crowded as Surfer's Paradise for example.

The sky goes on forever here --Hope you know what I mean by that-- It's just that everything seems more open plan, not entirely cluttered with greyness like many parts of Birmingham.

The glare of the sun off the white sand and the pavements was dazzling, took a while to get used to. The heat is not a problem so far --though it is set to get much hotter-- as it is tempered by cool southerly winds that stir the leaves of the gum trees and ruffle the feathers of the lorikeets. They are a kind of small rainbow-coloured parrot that congregates amongst the foliage in the late afternoon and dusk and make an awful racket. Beautiful though.
