There's a place near the Brisbane River called the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, situated not far from here in a suburb called Fig Tree Pocket :) I think it's a lovely name, and apt- there's thousands of fig trees in Brisbane, they line the main road to the city centre and many gardens have them.
Fruit bats colonise areas along the Brisbane River and are known to fly in clouds over the houses in this part of Brisbane but I haven't seen any yet (I have heard them though)...
I'd like to visit the sanctuary sometime soon, and explore caves and other such places where bats hang out.
I'd also like to visit Springwood Rainforest and see the glow-worms and luminous fungi after dark!
You can get species lists from the queensland heritage sites, its fascinating to read just how many different kinds of wildlife there are, most of which I have yet to see!
